Dior Skin Airflash ~ Review

If you follow me on twitter you will have seen that last month when I went back to Kent I got some goodies from my friend. One of the goodies was her unwanted Dior Skin Airflash, something she was desperate for me to try!

DAF_01

The Airflash is different to other foundations as it is in aerosol can, a bit different to the pumps that we are used to! I was a bit worried when it came to using this, but you quickly get used to it. The one thing I will say you don’t really get used to is the aerosol smell when applying it. Its strange and something I personally wasn’t used to, but I feel its worth putting up with!

My friend gave me the shade 300, which I was worried wouldn’t match my skin however it does really well! I spray this directly onto my makeup brush 3/4 times and then add it to my face as I usually would with a foundation. I was a little disappointed the first time I used it as I felt where I dotted it on my skin it ‘stained’ slightly, however after going over the area a few times and really working it in it went.

This is not a high coverage foundation, but it is buildable. This is the kind of foundation I want at the moment as my skin is the best its been in months, so I am loving that it just sorts out my colour and pigmentation. It leaves a lovely dewey finish that dosent need powder over the top (on my skin) and it is the first foundation that dosent make me look oily! You can add extra layers to it and concealer blends in to it nicely.

Overall I love this foundation and I’m actually a little annoyed that I’m now going to have to repurchase!! However, there are some negatives. As I mentioned above it does have an aerosol smell to it, which can be a little off-putting when applying it. If you leave the ‘dots’ on your skin for too long it can be hard to shift and blend in to your skin, which makes putting it on a little trickier. I have found that if I add the dots then quickly blend them all just a little it isn’t as bad. And lastly, the bottle/container is coloured so you don’t actually know how much you have left. This can make using it and thinking about repurchasing a little trickier.

I do have to say that I have fallen for this foundation. It is my second Dior Skin foundation, but my first ever one of this type. I love that it gives me light coverage and a little bit more colour as well as lasting throughout the day and not going patchy. Better get saving to get a back up…!

Manicure Monday ~ The Colour is Back!

I feel like its been so long since I did a Manicure Monday post, which is sad as I really enjoy doing them! Hopefully this will be back to being a regular feature on the blog with lots of new and fun colours popping up!

MM_RB01

So last week I got my nails done again after letting them have a breath for a few weeks. After searching through the colours online I finally decided on CND Shellac’s Rose Bud, which is actually a different colour on the nail than on the bottle. I thought it would be quite a dusky/dark pink however it came out as this gorgeous pastel pink which I am loving! I have lots of comments on the colour and I think it will definitely be one that I try again in the future!

What colour do you currently have on your nails?

Cielo Blanco Leeds ~ Review

Hello everyone, hope you are well!

Today I’m writing another new style of post for my blog, which is a restaurant review. I hope you enjoy!

Going out to eat is one of my favourite things to do when I meet with friends, I think its so much better than going on a night out or even going to the cinema (I mean, you cant talk!). Once I left my weekend job, it free’d up some time for me to meet one of my friends who I only ever saw at work. Before I worked so much we used to go into Leeds, do a little shopping and head for lunch. Now we can start doing that again we jumped at the chance, and headed to our favourite eatery in Leeds!

Cielo Blanco is a Mexican restaurant that is on the top floor of the Trinity Shopping Centre, tucked away in a corner. It has both completely indoor, outdoor (within the shopping centre) and totally outdoor seating which means you have a good choice. It is decorated really nicely, with little trees and fairy lights which really makes you feel comfortable.

On this occasion, we sat indoors at one of the booths which was really spacious and not cramped too close to the next door booth. Firstly we ordered drinks, I ordered the Watermelon Cooler and my friend went for a simple lemonade (tip: they do not have ‘standard’ soft drinks on the drinks menu, but as long as you ask you can still get one!). The drinks menu is one of my favourites, it has great choices for soft drinks as well as alcoholic, and I love that they do juices!

Once we had ordered our drinks and were given our complimentary tortilla chips and dip (yummy!) we turned our attention to the food menu. This can be a complicated menu to work out, however the staff will happily explain how it works to you if you ask. They do separate main courses like burritos and salads, however our favourite part to order from is the Street Food menu. This is where you choose 6 dishes to share between you (with a minimum of 2 people sharing). We love doing this as we can try lots of different dishes and share them between us. We have some standards that we get every time (I can never say no to the fish tacos!) however we always try to order some new pieces to try. On this visit we ordered:
Fish Tacos
Sweet Pepper Tacos
Spicy Roots Tostadas
Chorizo Picante & Potato Tostadas
Smokey Chicken Enchilada
Potato, Cheese and Fresh Herb Flautas

Our food arrived very quickly and all at once, which meant we didn’t have to sit around and wait for some of the dishes. The food was the right temperature to dig straight into and was so so delicious. Every dish was seasoned perfectly and was a great size. Once we had eaten all we could we asked for take away cartons which were given to us very quickly and allowed us to package up our own food. This meant that nothing was going to waste and my dad got to try all the dishes (that were left) too!

I honestly cannot praise Cielo Blanco enough, their customer service is great and I really cannot fault the food. It is by far my favourite place to eat in Leeds and will always be out first lunch choice when we meet up!

If you want to see the full menu click here to head to their website. Please do go give them a try if you fancy something a little different and a great experience!

Life Update…

Hello you lovely people, how are you all?!

I thought this week I would do a little life update, as things have changed since my last one. I love reading about what people have going on in their lives, and I want to look back on my blog and remember what happened during these times.

So, if you follow me on Twitter you will have seen that a few weeks back I tweeted that something exciting had happened. Once I was unemployed I did some part time work for a beauty spa, and after a week and a half of this I was offered a permenant position! I had loved my time there so I am very excited to be starting this next chapter of my career and enjoying every minute! Thankfully this also means Manicure Monday will be making a return, so keep an eye out for that too!

Last weekend I took the oppertunity of having spare time and went back down to Kent (where I went to university) to spend the weekend with my best friend. I haven’t seen her for 6 months, and after everything that had gone on it was a well needed trip! I loved being back down and spending time with her, from the shopping trips to watching films. On Sunday we went to the beach I frequently went to when I wanted to get out of my house-share (a 15 minute walk from the house) and sat with ice creams chatting & watching the waves. It was a lovely relaxing end to the weekend, and I can’t wait to spend time with her on holiday this summer!

So that’s what’s been going on with me! Next week I will be back to my usual posts, but just wanted to give a little update.

Sunglasses Collection

I decided last week I wanted to start adding some summer blog posts, while the sun was shining and I was happily wearing shorts around the house. Right now, as I sit down to write this post, I am looking out on grey skies with rain bursting through every few minutes. So I apologise, but you can always come back to this when the sun is back!

SG_01

Now, as you can tell from the above picture I don’t have many sunglasses, so I use the term ‘collection’ very lightly. As I live in the UK and don’t go abroad every few months I do not like spending my money on loads of sunglasses when I can use it for other things. This said, all of my sunglasses are from designers, however I never pay full price for them. I always get them from discount stores, or with a voucher I have been sent. I’ll explain where each pair is from and the price, so here we go…

SG_02

Betsey Johnson ~ Black Sunnies
These were the first real pair of sunglasses I bought after years of getting super cheap ones from Primark or Flea Markets in the USA. I got these from Marshalls, a store like TK Maxx in the USA. Online Betsey Johnson sunglasses retail for around $75, I paid around $15-25 for this pair! I got them back in 2012 and they are still in perfect condition, I like these if I want black sunnies rather than brown.

Oscar de la Renta ~ Tortoise Shell Sunnies
These sunnies are my go-to. They sit in my car all year round as I can slip them on really easily when driving. I find this shape and colour really suits my face shape and complexion as they are not too harsh. Oscar de la Renta sunglasses retail online for around $200-300, but again I only paid $15-25 for these from Marshalls and they have lasted me 2 years of frequent wear perfectly!

Miss KG ~ Tortoise Shell and Coral Sunnies
My Miss KG sunglasses are my most recent purchase as I only got them a couple of weeks ago. This time instead of a discount store I got them from Boots, but again didn’t pay full price! In fact I didn’t pay a penny.. These sunglasses retail for £30 but because I have a Boots advantage card I got a voucher for 50% off, and I also had a £15 voucher for them! I love these as they have a pop of colour on the arms and are a lovely shape.

SG_03

I know I don’t have loads, but I really love all of the sunnies I own! I’m sure when I go back to Florida this summer I’ll be coming back with at least one more pair if not more!

May Favourites ~ 2016

I’m back to making videos! I thought I’d give it another shot now I have some more spare time, so here is my first video back, my May Favourites! I know I’m a little late this month, but I wanted to make sure I got the video out at the same time!
I hope you enjoy the video, please let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions for videos or blog posts.

My 2016 Summer Goals

sg_01

I cant quite get my head around the fact it’s June and were already halfway through the year. I feel like it’s all gone so fast and it wont be 2 minutes until I’m writing halloween and Christmas posts again!

I thought that since I’ve had a lot going on these few weeks I would make some summer goals that I would like to achieve (plus, who dosent like a good list!)

~ Get a job (boring, I know, but a very important one!)
~ Appreciate the things around me more
~ Make the most of every day
~ Do more yoga
~ Spend more time and be more patient with my grandparents
~ Treat myself more
~ Spend more time with friends
~ Cook and bake more

Not the longest list but some bits I really want to achieve these next few months, so lets hope!

I hope you all enjoy your summer, have you got any goals?
