March Favourites ~ 2016

I can’t quite believe that is is April tomorrow, it literally feels like a week ago that I was writing my February favourites! Anyway, here we are again with more favourites for you all! March seems to have gone in a flash, and when it came to getting some pieces together for this post I was a little lost. I haven’t tried anything new, and haven’t really had more than one thing shine out at me. Hopefully April is a little different, but for now, here is what I was loving in March!
This is the one thing I knew needed to be in this post, my one main favourite from March. I actually got this book at the beginning of January, but due to my crazy busy work schedule I never got round to doing any reading. This month I have made it my goal to read most nights before bed, rather than go on my phone. I knew I wanted to start with this book, and I have been looking forward to getting in bed and reading this. For anyone who dosent know, American Sniper is a book about one of Americans best snipers, and has also been made into a film. Its like sitting and listening to your granddads war stories, but a little more in-depth. Its not one for people who are sensitive about war or terrorism, so don’t be picking this up if you are.
I have been loving wearing older jewellery again. I went through a phase of only wearing one ring, however felt bad that I had other nice ones just sat in the boxes! I decided to start wearing this Pandora ring again on my other hand, and really liked that I was able to wear it comfortably alongside the other. I now wear 4 rings in total (a big jump in one month!) which I will be sharing in a future post..
I’ve had this perfume for years, this is actually my second bottle. I’m a big fan of Marc Jacobs perfume and this is one of my favourites as its a little darker than some of the others. I’ve been reaching for this more than others this month simply for this reason, and it’s been nice using one of my higher end perfumes again!
Again, this is something I have had for a little while and I used quite a lot last year. Its been sat in my makeup bag for months and getting ignored, but this month I used it quite a lot for my weekend work. I either wore it on its own, or popped my Tanya Burr lipgloss over the top. Perfect for days when I don’t want a bold colour on my lips!
And thats everything from this month! Like I said, I haven’t had much that jumped out at me this month, mainly oldies being revisited, but hopefully I will have some good ones for you in my April Favourites!
What have you been loving this month?

The Liebster Awards ~ Take 2!

I have been nominated to do the Liebster Award by the lovely HannahLeanne (thank you!), and although I have done this before (which you can see here) I thought I would answer a second set of questions!

For those who aren’t aware this is what you have to do:
1. Thank the blogger for your nomination and include a link to their page.
2. Answer the 11 questions that have been provided by the blogger that nominated you.
3. Nominate 11 of your own bloggers to take part.
4. Ask them 11 of your own questions.
So here we go!
1. What is your most prized possession?
Either my Tiffany jewellery, as I got each piece either for my 21st birthday or graduation, or my car.
2. Why did you start blogging?
I orginally started blogging as I thought it was a good way to keep track of my weightloss (I started on a different blog), but I started blogging on this site because I wanted a way to share things that I enjoy with people!
3. How long have you been blogging for?
Including my previous blog, 3 years I think?
4.What is your favourite film?
The little mermaid. My all time favourite!
5. How old are you?
6. What is your most treasured memory?
I’ve had to think about this a lot, and I honestly don’t know! I have so many little memories that I treasure, like everyday things that we take for granted.
7. Is there something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
I’d love to go travelling, or stay with my aunt in America for a few months. I haven’t done it due to money – the joys of adult life!
8. What was your last purchase
I went shopping on friday actually and got a couple of things. I got a new Pandora ring, some birthday cards, and some jars to put nuts and stuff in in my kitchen.
9. Do you have any pets?
I have 2 Alaskan Malamutes, Nyah and Diesel
10. What is your favourite type of blog to read? (beauty, lifestyle, fashion etc)
It depends what kind of mood I’m in! At the minute I am loving fashion and beauty posts as I am trying to get some ideas!
11. What is your favourite season?
It depends what year it is. If its a holiday year, I love summer as it means I have a trip to Florida! If not, I love winter as its an excuse to wear big jumpers and get all cosy!
Thats that! Now the hard bit of thinking of questions!
I am not going to nominate people, just anyone reading this! You can either answer in the comments or on your blog and put your link in the comments 🙂
1. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
2. What is the most used app on your phone?
3. If you could only wear one lip colour for the rest of your life, what would it be?
4. What is your job/what do you want your job to be?
5. Favourite thing to cook?
6. Current favourite film?
7.What are you most looking forward to this year?
8. Have you kept any of your new year resolutions? If yes, which ones?
9. What is your favourite thing to do with your family?
10. Tea or Coffee?
11. Sweet or savoury?
Hope you all enjoyed!

Easter Cupcakes!

For some reason, I have really got into Easter this year. Unfortunately I still live with my parents, but I know that if I had my own place it would be kitted out in Easter decorations! One thing I could do while still living at home was bake something we could all munch on over Easter weekend. Typically, I would make rice crispie/corn flake buns (which I am still doing, but I’m pretty sure you all think of those anyway!), however this year I decided to make something I wouldn’t normally think of – Carrot Cake Cupcakes!
Now unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time to make things like this from scratch, especially since my mixer is now broken, so I took a trip to morrisons and decided to try out their carrot cake box mix. For anyone who dosent know how they work, it is basically all your dry ingredients and all you have to do is add eggs and liquid. I was really impressed with this kit, as it also had a package of cream cheese icing which I just needed to add butter to – finally a mix that has it all!
I do feel like I’m cheating when I make box mixes, however when your short on time they are perfect!
I put my cupcake mixture into pink, yellow, green and blue polka dot cases and decorated them with the cream cheese icing which I added orange food colouring to. I wanted to add a little decoration but didn’t think a mini-egg would go too well(!), so I just sprinkled some cinnamon over the top.
These went down a treat with my family, and I feel like I’m going to have a lot of requests for more cakes now!!
Hope you all have a lovely Easter

Manicure Monday ~ Countdown to Spring

I got my nails re-done last week, the week where it seemed winter was here forever! Because I don’t feel like it’s spring just yet, I decided to go for my final dark colour of the year (well, until the winter!).
As I think I mentioned in my last Manicure Monday, I love that my nail technician shares her ideas with me, so when I mentioned that I was going for the last dark of the year she said ‘I know exactly what to do, and theres even a glitter that goes with it.’ – perfect!!
So on my nails at the moment I have the CND Shellac Dark Dahlia with a glitter gradient on 4 feature nails, this is a loose glitter they have at my salon so I don’t know exactly which one it is!
What colour do you currently have on your nails?!

What I got for my 22nd Birthday!

I wasn’t going to do a haul for my birthday, however after my what I learnt at 21 post it was requested that I do! I wanted to do it in the style of my Christmas haul, however I am very short on time at the minute so there is no video to accompany this post – sorry!

My 22nd birthday was very different to my others, however it was still lovely! I wasn’t expecting anything for it (being over 21 and an adult!) however I was pleasantly surprised by the bags adding up on our fireplace! Just like my Christmas haul, I am not going to list and take pictures of everything, just a few of the bits!
As you can probably tell, I got a good miss-mash of stuff for my birthday! The first thing I opened was from one of my best friends which was the only present I opened during the day as I went to see her in the morning. Thats the makeup bag at the top – I love this because its very Ted Baker and will add a lovely pop of colour in my handbag when I eventually change for spring! (My friends daughter was more interested in this than her own presents when I opened it, she kept running off with it!)
Pandora is a brand I love, and filling in my bracelet is a goal of mine! I got a lovely happy birthday charm off one of my school friends, straight after I took this picture it was on my bracelet!
If you didnt already know, I am obsessed with candles. I have a drawer of them in my room. Yep, its bad! So when I opened the little gift bag and found a prefect spring/summer candle I was very happy! This one is from ??? and smells lovely.
For anyone wondering what the hell the little tree with eyes is, that’s Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy (my favourite Marvel film). I think my mum went with a bit of a theme as I got this dancing Groot t-shirt (which is super cute), a calendar and the CD. Guardians everywhere!
My lovely dad is one of those people who picks up on the little passing comments I make, that I don’t expect anyone to hear. A week before my birthday I mentioned that I was running out of bath bombs and voila, opened my gift back to find 3! I think these are from Home Bargains, but they smell lovely!! I got 2 rose and one lavender, and although they don’t do anything fancy to your bath like lush, they do make it smell amazing.
Now the last one in this picture I was considering for a while whether to put it in or not, but I’m 22 so why not! My brothers girlfriend got me a bottle of sparking rosé wine, which is my favourite wine! As well as this I also got a bottle of prosecco. I don’t drink very often, so these will be kept safe until I do.
The last present I wanted to show you was already in use, note why its got its own picture! For those who don’t know, I am obsessed with The Little Mermaid. It was and always will be my all time favourite film, so when I went through 50 layers of bubble wrap and found this beautiful wineglass I was very happy! As you can see, I am using this for cotton balls etc on my beauty table, as I don’t want to risk breaking or damaging it using it as an actual wine glass!
I also posted a picture on my instagram of what my best friend got me (which you can see here). I have been trying to cut out caffeine and drink sweeter tea’s to reduce my sugar cravings, and so have been drinking more natural tea. My best friend sent me a gorgeous wooden tea box where I can store them all so prettily! (is that even a word?!). This is now a fixture in my kitchen and looks so cute.
I hope you all enjoyed this post! If you want to see what I got up to I did a blog post here about how I spent my day/week.

February Favourites ~ 2016

I’ve had a busy February due to birthdays etc, and of course work. However, I have found it quite hard to come up with a large number of favourites like I normally do! So this month were thinner on the ground, but I really have been loving these things a lot. I have included beauty and randoms. so I hope you enjoy!
Ive had this since the end of November when I first went to my new hairdressers. I never buy products from hairdressers as they have a large price tag attached, however for some reason I decided to take the plunge, and I am so glad I did! I’ve been using sporadically since I got it, however last month with the constant weather changes in the UK and using a new shampoo that really dries my hair out this has been a lifesaver. Yes, it costs more than I would normally pay for a leave in conditioner, but it has already lasted me 4 months and I have only used half, so it is well worth it!
I got this palette just before christmas, and have been using it on and off since then. Last month however, I used it nearly ever day to add a little more to my eyes during work. For this price tag it is 100% worth it, the colours are pigmented and blend easily. I also use the lightest shimmer as a highlighter and it looks lovely, this palette gets so many thumbs up from me!
I’ve had this angled brush in my pot for 2 years now, and very occasionally use it. Last month I re-dicovered it and don’t think I will be going back to my thicker Real Techniques one for a while! Because its to much thinner, it is very precise and allows me to make my eyebrows the perfect shape every day!
Its no secret that I love cooking and baking shows, and that I especially have a soft spot for Mary Berry! In February she had a new show on BBC2 ‘Mary Berry’s ???’ and we tuned in every week. Since beginning to watch that I had to buy a cook book, so I got her Cooks recipe book. I know its sad, but I cannot wait to build up my cook book collection and try out the recipes, they look so good!
Mini Eggs
Yes, I am aware it is not easter yet. No, I do not care that I have already consumed numerous bags of mini eggs! I don’t know what it is about them, but they are just soo good and moreish. Last month I always had a bag in my treat drawer and I am going to be super sad when they remove them from the shelves. I may have to stock up…
What were you loving last month?

Present Ideas ~ First Birthday

As I mentioned in my ‘What I learnt at 21’ post, one of my best friends had her daughter last year on my 21st birthday. This meant that obviously, she turned 1 a couple of weeks ago! Now I’m a sucker for buying anything for her, baby things are just adorable, but I wanted to get her something she needed or could use for a while. Because of this I thought I would do a little mid-week post with what I bought her, just in case anyone out there is looking for some inspiration!
One thing I knew I wanted to buy her was a book, but one that would help her and they could keep for a while. After doing a bit of research (mainly watching SacconeJoly vlogs) I decided to get the One Thousand Things book by … . This has one thousand things for children to learn in, so it includes numbers and colours etc. I thought this was a good present to buy as she is getting to the age where she is starting to learn things, so this will just help her with that!
When I asked my friend if Ellie needed anything, she said clothes and hair accessories as she has lovely long hair now! This made me very excited, as I have refrained from buying any clothes for her for a long while! Obviously as a little girl she is growing very quickly, so I didnt want to get her anything too expensive that she would wear once and thats it, so I popped into primark and picked her up 2 outfits. One is a typical girly pink, and the other is a little bit more grown up with white and dark blues. I bought these in the size 1 1/2 – 2 years as I figures she could possibly wear them for a little longer and not grow out of them quite as soon! For hair accessories I bought this set of 6 headbands which I got off amazon. They are super cute and colourful, and the bows aren’t so big that they will make her look silly!
I wrapped everything up in Peppa Pig wrapping paper which I got from The Card Factory and went to see her on the morning of her birthday. It was so cute to see her open the presents and get excited over everything!
